The 2024 UEFA European Football Championship (or simply Euro 2024) is the 17th edition of the UEFA European Football Championship contested among national teams of European countries. The tournament features 51 matches, with the final taking place on July 14, 2024, and the opening match on June 14.
On March 8, 2017, two countries expressed their desire to host the tournament: Germany and Turkey. The bidding process took place on September 27, 2018, in the city of Nyon. The bidding process was concluded successfully, with 17 members in the committee. In the event of a tie in the bidding process, the UEFA President would cast the deciding vote, but this situation did not arise.
The country hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2006, with six stadiums chosen: Berlin, Dortmund, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, and Leipzig, along with the Düsseldorf Arena.
The Weserstadion in Bremen (37,441 capacity), Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach (46,249), the Niedersachsenstadion in Hanover (43,000), and the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg (46,000) were not selected. Four cities (Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, and Cologne) are located in the eastern part of Germany.
